My Name is Terry, I was born in Chelmsford, Essex and since college I’ve been involved with IT and Design.

I began my career at Lowestoft College with a BTEC in Computer Science, before embarking on a degree in Internet Computing at the Centre for Internet Computing at Hull University. The centre is located at the Scarborough Campus & was one of the first of its kind in the country. The campus is small but I prefer being a name not a number as is the case with other universities. I made many good friends both with academic staff and the animals in the student bar. I graduated in 2005 with a First Class degree & an overdraft.

Soon after I landed my first job at the Centre for Environmental, Fisheries & Aquacultural Sciences (Cefas) in Lowestoft which is a government owned research laboratory as an Application Developer. Working within small teams I work with science based systems & websites which are used by researchers to assist their research as well as present information to stakeholders & the general public. In 2008 I was promoted to a senior role with the intention of having more say in how things were done which I have enjoyed greatly.

In 2008 I took an opportunity to take a short career break and go travelling, it was something I had wanted straight from university but couldn’t due to the money situation. I spent 4 months travelling from Melbourne to Cairns in Australia doing everything in the middle.

In my spare time I have continued to develop my true passion which is the web and creating things. I taught myself HTML at school and putting my spotty face on the internet amazed me. I have had fingers in as many pies as I have fingers. I very much have the attitude that if I’m not sure how to build something I’ll find a way of doing it, if I still can’t do it I’ll ask Google. I want to design things that make people happy and I strive to do the very best I can. I really want a chance to move to the more creative side of the industry – its where my skills are and I know I have a lot to offer.

I’m heavily into Canoeing where I’m hoping to eventually become an instructor – I love being on the water and nothing really beats it on a warm summers evening. I’m a member of the Lowestoft & District Canoe Club and have also tried my hand at racing for Norwich where I sensationally got beaten by a six year old girl who was obviously cheating… I regularly go to the gym and although I admit I’m not a true example of fitness I do my best to keep in shape. When I’m not working or doing any of this I can usually be found with friends enjoying a cold pint at the local.

I thank you for taking the time to visit and I hope if nothing else you enjoy what you see.
